Chargeable Weight

The collectible amount is the value used to calculate the cost of air freight.

It is the greater of the following:

  • actual weight
  • bulk weight

That's why a package that's light but large may cost more.

Stowage factor (volumetric weight)

In air freight, the shipping cost does not depend solely on the actual weight of the package.

The following is also calculated: space it occupies inside the plane.

The formula used is:

(Length × Width × Height) / 5,000

This determines the shipment's volumetric weight.

Textile Regulations

Textile products must comply with labeling standards, which include:

  • material composition
  • country of origin
  • care instructions

These regulations vary by destination country and are mandatory for clothing, girdles, and textile products.

FDA (Food and Drug Administration)

The FDA regulates the importation into the United States of products such as:

  • food
  • coffee
  • cosmetics
  • supplements

Inspection of Goods
